What are some of the Christian beliefs?

Christian beliefs are based on the Holy Bible. Here are some of those beliefs.

Christian beliefs: God's Word, Creation

1. About God's Word

The Bible is God's Inspired Word

"All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

"Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit" (2 Peter 1:20-21).

God fulfills God's Promises

"The Lord said to me, 'You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled."

God's Word is inerrant

"Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth" (John 17:17)

God's Word sustains

"Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away" (Matthew 24:35).

God's Word is powerful

God said, "Let there be light, and there was light" (Genesis 1:3).

"For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bear before the eyes of him to whom we must give account" (Hebrews 4:12-13).

2. There is only One Creator God

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1).

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them" (Genesis 1:27).

3. First human beings (Adam and Eve) were sinless at the time of creation.

"The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame" (Genesis 2:25).

Christian beliefs: Sin, Death, Salvation by Faith

4. Satan deceived Adam and Eve to sin

The Lord God commanded the man, saying, 'Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die' (Genesis 2:16-17)

Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."

So the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, Cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."

To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."

To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,'

"Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return" (Genesis 3:13-19).

5. All human beings are sinners

"Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men (human race), because all sinned."

"Righteousness comes from God through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood" (Romans 3:22-26).

6. God promised a seed of a woman to crush Satan's head

God said to Satan, "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and hers; He (her seed) will crush your head, and you will strike His heal" (Genesis 3:15).

"For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous" (Romans 5:19).

"Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel (God living with man)" (Isaiah 7:14).

"When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: Death has been swallowed up in victory. 'Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death is your sting?" (1 Corinthians 15:54-56)

"The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet" (Romans 16:20).

"When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth -- Gog and Magog -- to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God's people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever" (Revelation 20:7-10).

7. Virgin birth of Jesus

8. Salvation is found only in one person Jesus Christ

"It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. He is the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone. Salvation is found in no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:11-12).

9. We receive salvation by faith

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8).

"God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

"And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son does not have life. I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life" (1 John 5:11-13).

10. All our sins (past, present and future) have been forgiven

When we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior He forgives us all our sins.

"For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins" (Colossians 1:13-14).

11. We are saved to do good works

Good works that we do are the result of Christ Jesus working in and though our lives.

"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:9).

12. There is only One Human Race

God blessed them (Adam and eve) and said to them, 'Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it' (Genesis 1:28).

"From one man He made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; ... God did this so that men would seek Him and find Him, ..." (Acts 17:26-31).

"... for the Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts" (1 Chronicles 28:9).

Christian beliefs: Miracles, Resurrection

15. God and Jesus are one person

"In the beginning was the word, and the Word was with God, and Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made" (John 1:1-4).

"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth" (John 1:14).

Jesus said, "I and the father are one" (John 10:30).

Jesus said, "If you have seen Me you have seen the Father" (John 14:9).

"...and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by the resurrection from the dead" (Romans 1:4).

16. God does Miracles

17. Jesus' Resurrection

"...and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the death" (Romans 1:4).

Christian beliefs: Ascension, Holy Spirit, Great Commission

18. The Ascension of Jesus

After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them.

"Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven" (Acts 1:9-11).

19. Advent of the Holy Spirit

(Jesus speaking) "These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you.

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.

"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful" (John 14:25-27).

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the

20. The Great Commission

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age" (Matthew 28:18-20).

Christian beliefs: End of Times

21. There will be Tribulation in the world

22. Vengeance belongs to God

We are warned not to take vengeance when persecuted.

23. The snatching away of all believers in Christ both dead and alive

This is the Rapture of the Church of God. This will shorten the suffering of the Church during the tribulation (Mark 13:20). Many Theologians believe that the Rapture will take place before or during the 7 years of Tribulation.

"Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

Therefore encourage each other with these words" (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

24. The Second coming of Christ and the 1,000 years of His reign on earth.

"And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.

"I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge.

And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.

Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years" (Revelation 20:1-6)
