"Faith" simply means trust. The Christian Bible says in Hebrews 11:1, "It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead."
All religions profess faith in God. But not all types of faiths are pleasing to Him.
FAITH SHOULD HAVE A TRUSTWORTHY OBJECT.
We don't place our faith in ourselves either. To anchor a boat, you don't take the anchor and place it in the boat itself just because you believe in the anchor.
WE SHOULD FIX OUR FAITH ON AN UNCHANGING, EVERLASTING AND TRUSTWORTHY GOD, and HIS PROMISES.
When it comes to life after death, we cannot place our faith on just any man's word. As a man is mortal even though he could make all sorts of promises, he will not be able to fulfill them once he dies, whereas God is infinite and immortal who knows all things past, present and future. Hence, we can trust such a God to keep all His promises
True, some of them were unfaithful; but just because they were unfaithful, does that mean God will be unfaithful? Of course not! Even if everyone else is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say about him, "You will be proved right in what you say, and you will win your case in court" (Romans 3:3-4).
"Heaven and earth will pass away, but My word remains forever", says Jesus (Matthew 24:35).
The purpose of faith is to know our Creator God, to have peace with Him, and to be with Him when we die. However, if the god whom we worship never promises to meet these specific needs we so eagerly desire, at the end of the day we will be awfully disappointed.
Faith can be distinguished between BLIND FAITH vs TRUE FAITH
Blind faith is that we place our trust in a god assuming that he will fulfill our hearts' desires even though there are no promises to place our trust in.
On the other hand what is True Faith?
True Faith is placing our trust in the ONE and ONLY CREATOR, the PROMISE KEEPING, LIVING GOD. (See the Fig.2)
As I examined the Christian Holy Bible I learned the following:
It says in John 1:3, "He created everything, there is—nothing exists that he didn't make." Therefore, JESUS is our CREATOR GOD. All others are creations. As such they depend on the Creator for their survival; therefore, we should not worship them but worship and obey only the Creator God. Otherwise we may soon be worshiping each other!
Jesus said (John 10:30), "I and the Father are one."
Again the Holy Bible says in 1 John 2:23, "For a person who doesn't believe in Christ, God's Son, can't have God the Father either. But he who has Christ, God's Son, has God the Father also."
The One and Only Creator, Living God (Jesus) has given us many promises in the Bible that concern our real life needs, such as:
To forgive all our sins, to make us children of God, to give us eternal life, to raise us from the dead, to make sure that we get to heaven when we die, to give us peace, and power to over come temptation, to transform us into the image of Christ, to live within our lives, never to leave us nor forsake us, and many more.
Apostle Paul wrote in
We can place our faith in such a loving and trustworthy God, Jesus.
It isn't enough just to have faith. "Faith that doesn't show itself in obedience to God's word is no faith at all -- it is dead and useless" (James 2:17). This does not mean that we gain salvation (eternal life) by doing good. The Bible says,
Therefore, what is Genuine Faith?
Genuine Faith can be illustrated in another way. For instance you may believe that a chair can fully support your weight. Yet if you are not willing to stand on the chair or even if you merely place one foot on it, either way you show that you don’t trust the chair. This shows no faith at all.

But if you stand with both legs on the chair you really demonstrate that you fully trust the chair. This is genuine faith.
So it is with our faith in God. We may believe that Jesus is the Son of God, He rose from the dead, He is the only way to God and He will keep all His promises, and yet if we don't take a step of faith to invite Him into your lives and follow His teachings, we show that we don't really trust Him. But if we take a step of faith and decide to follow Him and no other gods, than we show genuine faith.
He commanded us to trust Him and Him alone as our Saviour and Lord. John 14:6 says, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
When we place our faith in too many gods, we are going to be disappointed. It is some thing like standing on two boats. You know what will happen. When any one of the boats start moving, we will fall in between and get drowned and lost.
Therefore, you should make a decision depending upon the credibility of the person whom you are going to trust. Jesus is trust worthy. He is the Son of God who rose from the dead and lives for ever. He is able to fulfill all of God's promises no matter how many of them there are.
It is a universal truth that "A dead man cannot keep his promises". Only a living person can keep his promises. Jesus said in Revelation 21:6-8,
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of water of life without cost. He who overcomes shall inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. But the cowardly and the unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
You cannot afford to gamble with it. You cannot leave this decision for another person to make for you. You are responsible to God for your life. Be wise and bold and make that decision today. The following are few things you need to know before you receive Christ:
Once you receive Him by faith, trust that He is lives in your life and tell others confirming your Salvation.
You should not be ashamed of Jesus, because He is your risen Saviour and Lord. Matthew 8:38 Paul says,
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Do you sincerely desire to have this kind of genuine faith? If yes, you may proceed to "How to receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord."
