How to receive Jesus Christ?

Since you are sincerely desiring to have a personal relationship (Father and child relationship) with God and spend eternity with Him in Heaven, prepare your heart to receive Jesus.

Here is how you could prepare your heart to receive Jesus Christ.

Prepare Your Heart

Man is sinful and separated from God

Romans 8:29,"For from the beginning God decided that those came to him should become like his Son, so that his Son would be the First, with many brothers. And having chosen us, he called us to come to him; and when we came, he declared us 'not guilty,' filled us with Christ's goodness, gave us right standing with himself, and promises us his glory.".

How to receive Christ?

If you agree with these above points, then here is:

How you can receive Jesus as your personal Saviour and Lord.

Jesus said in Revelation 3:20, "Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him…" Jesus needs an invitation from you to enter your life, because He is not a thief. He is Almighty God.

Jesus said in John 10:10,"The thief's purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness."

Receiving Christ involves turning to God from self (repentance) and trusting Christ to come into our lives to forgive our sins and to make us what He wants us to be. Just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for our sins is not enough. Nor is it enough to have an emotional experience. We must individually receive Jesus Christ by faith, as an act of the will.

You can receive Jesus by faith through prayer. Prayer is talking with God. Here is a suggested prayer:

"Lord Jesus I need You. I agree that I have sinned against You. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Saviour and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be." Amen.

If this prayer expresses the desire of your heart, pray this prayer right now and Jesus will come into your life just as He promised. You need to pray this prayer only one time in your life time. In Hebrews 13:5, He has promised, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

If you have just received Jesus Christ, you may want to know,
"How to know that Jesus Christ is in my life?"

How to Know Christ Is in my life?

The moment you received Jesus Christ many things happened including the following:

If you have received Jesus Christ into your life, you can know the following on the basis of God's Promises.

Can you think of anything more wonderful that could happen to you than receiving Christ? Would you like to thank Him for what He has done for you? The very act of thanking God expresses your faith. Here is a suggested thanksgiving prayer:

“Thank you Lord Jesus for coming into my life, forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life." Amen.

Welcome to God’s Great family! In Mark 8:38 Jesus said, “Anyone who is ashamed of Me and My message in these days of unbelief and sin, I, the Messiah, will be ashamed of him when I return in the glory of My Father, with the holy angels." So, tell your friends what you did with Jesus today.

Next thing I encourage you to do is, get a Holy Bible and start reading from the Gospel of John and attend a near by church where Jesus is honored and the Bible is taught.

If you have received Christ through this message, a special Bible studies series and other helpful materials for Christian growth and witness are available from:

What is my state "Now", if I have not yet received Jesus Christ?

If we reject Jesus, many things will happen including the following:

Before physical death:

  1. We will remain separated from God in a condemned state because of our sins.

According to Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death (Spiritual separation), but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." John 3:18 say, "...but whoever does not believe (in Jesus) is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the Son of God."

  2. We are destined to eternal death (Lake of Fire).

According to Rev 20:14-15, “Then the death and Hades were thrown into the Lake of Fire (Hell) and if anyone’s name is not found recorded in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."
1 John 5:12, "...whoever does not have the Son of God does not have the life (Eternal life)."

  3. Our hearts will be filled with anxiety and fear, as we come face to face with death.

because of my sin." Proverbs 12:25, "Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word (word of assurance from God) makes him glad."
How true it is! Especially when we become old or come close to the point of death, we will become anxious, frightened and depressed. We panic, and do not want to die. We want to cling on to this life at all cost. We want to get well and continue to live here on earth forever with our loved ones. Our minds will be filled with hopelessness and a deep sense of loneliness and fear will fill our hearts because of the uncertain future.

What a tragic end that will be!

Jesus told Martha, in John 11:25, "I am the one who raises the dead and gives them life again. Anyone who believes in me, even though he dies like anyone else, shall live again. He is given eternal life for believing in me and shall never perish. Do you believe this Martha? She replied, 'Yes, Master,' I believe you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the we have so long waited."

What will be our state if we had rejected Jesus Christ?

1. After we die physically

Our souls will be taken to a place of unrighteous dead, where we will begin our unending suffering straight away, while waiting there for the judgment day of God.

Jesus said in the Holy Bible, in Luke 16:19-24,

"There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who desires to be fed with what fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores.

"The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted us his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out,

'Father Abraham, have mercy on, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am, in anguish in this flame.'"

2. On the Day of Judgment

We will be brought before the judgment seat of God.

"Just as it is appointed for man to die once and then comes the judgment" (Hebrews 9:27).

"And I saw a great white throne and the one who sat upon it, from whose face the earth and sky fled away, but they found no place to hide. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before God; and the Books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to the things written in the Books, each according to the deeds he had done. The oceans surrendered the bodies in them; and earth and the underworld gave up the dead in them. Each was judged according to his deeds. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the Lake of Fire. This is the Second Death -- the Lake of Fire. And if anyone's name was not found recorded in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the Lake of Fire" (Revelation 20:11-15).

Bible also gives us a grave description of the Lake of fire?

"And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophets are, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever" (Revelations 20:10).

"While the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness (Hell), where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth" (Matthew 8:12).

3. We will be in great pain and suffering with no one to comfort us. This is an everlasting tormenting state with no second chance.

We will remain in that state for eternity. That will be terrifying and tragic to imagine. Think of it. God has given us enough warnings so that we can make a wise decision now. We must make that decision before our final journey into the unknown while we are still sober.

"And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us" (Luke 16:26).

Death is for sure and we have to face it one day or other. With Christ in our hearts we can always be ready to face death with confidence.

(Jesus speaking) "I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me" (Revelation 3:20)

"And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life" (1 John 5:11-13).
