Why did God create the human race?

There are two main purposes: long-term and short-term.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end" (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Long-term Purpose

We also observe from the following revelations in the Bible that God's purpose is to unite all things in Him (in Christ).

Jesus says,

"For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day" (John 6:40).

Paul, in his letter to Ephesians, wrote

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.

In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will -- to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment -- to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.

In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory" (Ephesians 1:3-12).

Short-term Purpose

To populate and take good care of His creation

God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground. Then God said, I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food (Genesis 1:28-30).

Initially God gave only one commandment to Adam.

The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die" (Genesis 2:15-16).

But Satan tempted them and they disobeyed God's one and only commandment and sinned against Him. Till Adam and Eve sinned there was harmony among God's creations. Now the population on earth began to multiply and evil also spread widely.

The Ten Commandments

People began to disobey God and hate one another and the harmony among all His creations was lost. So God gave the following commandments (Laws) to Moses as an advance preparation for redeeming humanity from Satan and death.

And God spoke all these words:

He commanded us to love and obey Him (as our Father in Heaven), love our neighbour as ourselves, live in peace with one another as a big family here on earth, and take care of the things (the creations, environment etc.,) He has entrusted to us.

God knew that man cannot in his own strength obey His commandments.

"... through the law comes knowledge of sin" (Romans 3:20).

God gave these commandments to remind us that we need Him to help us live the way He wants us to live in this world.

But we (the human race) miserably failed our Creator God. So what happened to man?

A Resolution

"... for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

Eternal Heaven is a holy and righteous place no evil will be allowed to enter there. Situation looks HOPELESS. However, there is HOPE.

God's Provision for Men's Sin

The Bible also says,

"For there is One God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time," (1 Timothy 2:3)

Jesus says, "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for
his friends" (John 15:13).

Jesus also says, "I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through Me" (John 14:6).

Please do not depend on your own righteousness to enter Heaven because Bible says, "All our righteousness is like filthy rags" (Isaiah 64:6).

The Great Hope

Now we can boldly enter heaven through Jesus Christ.

"For the wages of sin is death (eternal separation from God), but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23).

God has already appointed a day of judgment and a judge, JESUS, the Son of God. Remember, we do not appoint judges for ourselves. That is God's prerogative.

Therefore, now if we agree that we have sinned and repent of our sins and accept the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, God will accept us into Heaven based on Jesus' righteousness and our faith in Him.

Bible says,

"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but to save the world though Him" (John 3:17).

According to Jesus' own words in Revelation 3:20,

"Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him."

The Choice is ours

Dear friend, life on earth is a fleeting moment, compared to eternity.

Eternity has two places: Heaven and Hell. Which one will you choose? I strongly urge you to consider spending eternity with God in Heaven. If this is your desire, I suggest that you invite Jesus into your life right now by faith.
