Well, honestly speaking I did not know the answer until I read the Bible. That question bothered me for a long time, too. With all the evidences that we have about the uniqueness and authenticity of the Christian's Holy Bible, I strongly believe what God told Moses,
"I AM WHO I AM" (Exodus 3:13).
Now If I were to quote the same to you, you would not believe my word.
Only God Himself could adequately answer this question.
God did not reveal His origin to any one, because no man had ever actually seen God face to face to ask Him that question. Men in the past had heard Him speak, seen His glory passing by, but most probably it never came to their mind to ask Him the question, "Who created You?" or it could be that they were so overwhelmed by the Majestic sight they dared not ask any such questions.
Here is one such incident recorded in the Bible,
During the dialogue, God told Moses, "So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt" (Exodus 3:10).
This means that He is the self-existing One or He has no beginning or ending, He is the eternal God. As Moses was so taken by that Majestic sight he could only ask Him "...and they ask me, 'what is His name?' Then what shall I tell them?"
Therefore, only God knows the answer, so, how to meet God?
In the Christians' Holy Bible we read that God in the person of Jesus Christ came down to live among us to tell us all about Him. The following verses point out that God and Jesus is the same Person.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men" (John 1:1-4).
"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth" (John 1:14).
Here we discover that He is talking about Jesus the Son of God.
"No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known" (John 1:18).
Therefore, only Jesus knows all about God because Jesus himself is God.
Because the Bible says in John 14:6, "I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through Me".
One day, during 1970s, a student who had received Jesus into his life a day before through me brought one of his friends who wanted to ask this same question, "Who created God?" He introduced him to me and said, "My friend has a question to ask you." So I invited him to sit down next to me so that we could talk about it. Instead of sitting down, he stood there and said, "Answer me, who created God? Then I believe."
In a moment of silent prayer I sought God's wisdom. Then I said, "if you really want an authoritative answer other than from the Bible, you have to ask God Himself." But you have to go through Jesus Christ to meet Him. Then I asked him, "Do you sincerely want to know the answer to that question?" He said, "Yes".
Taking him at his word, I shared with him the Good News using the "Four Spiritual Laws" booklet written by the late Dr. Bill Bright, the Founder and President of Campus Crusade for Christ. He listened carefully and received Jesus into his life. Before he left, I reminded him not to forget to ask that question to God when he meets Him in heaven. He gladly agreed.
Are you are sincerely seeking God and the answer to this question?
"I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me diligently will find Me" (Proverbs 8:17).
We have the freedom to make a choice either to seek God diligently or reject Him.
But when it comes to the consequences, do we have an option? Definitely no!
As a way of illustration: We have the option to commit or not to commit a crime, but when we make the wrong choice and could be punished in a court, we have no option to choose. We have to accept the verdict.
Therefore, we have to be ready always to accept the consequences of the freedom, which we have in making choices.
On the Day of Judgment, we have to face the consequences of the choices we make everyday while down here.
With God on our side we will have no fear of punishment on the Day of Judgment.
Therefore, don't you think it is wise for us to meet God as our Friend and Father, to be welcomed as a loving child rather than go before an impersonal Judge to be punished?
If you desire to want to meet God as your loving Father, here is how you could do so. How to receive Jesus? After receiving Jesus, when you meet God in heaven don't forget to ask Him that question.
If we receive Jesus, there will be many advantages including the following:
We will become children of God, (and God will be our Loving Father in Heaven) with all our sins forgiven; we will live eternally with the Almighty God in His great family in Heaven. We are passed from judgment unto life.
"He who believes in Him is not judged ..." (John 3:18a).
If we reject Jesus, we will be separated from God eternally in Hell, a place of intense fire, torment, gnashing of the teeth and eternal suffering with of course, the question unanswered. (John 3:18, )
"...He who does not believe has been judged already,..." (John 3:18b).
"This is the judgment, that the light has come into the word, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil" (John 3:19).
So dear friend, please do not reject Jesus. Accept Him now, if you have not already done so.
