Are there marriages in Heaven?

During the time of Jesus, the Sadducees, a Jewish religious sect, asked the following question to Jesus in order to trap Him.

In Mark 12:19-23, the Bible says,

'Teacher,' they said, 'Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and have children for his brother.

'Now there were seven brothers. The first one married and died without leaving any children. The second one married the widow, but he also died, leaving no child. It was the same with the third. In fact, none of the seven left any children. Last of all, the woman died too.

'At the resurrection whose wife will she be, since the seven were married to her?'

Jesus' Reply

Jesus replied,

'Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God? When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.

Now about the dead rising -- have you not read in the book of Moses, in the account of the bush, how God said to him, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!'

Jesus revealed the truth about what happens in Heaven. Thus we know that in the resurrection of the dead we will have a body that is suitable to live in Heaven, something like that of the angels, they neither marry nor given in marriage there.

Therefore, we, as Christians who believe in the resurrection of the dead should not be in a hurry to commit suicide to get to heaven before our appointed time, in order to get married there. Why? Because the Word of God says,

"Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him; for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are."

(We become a temple of God when we receive Jesus Christ into our lives. When we receive Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit is given to us to live in us.)

At the resurrection, there will be a reunion of our loved ones in Heaven, provided they also have received Jesus Christ just as we have. We will recognize each other, but we will not have any sexual relationship with anyone even with our spouses, because they all will be like angels just as Jesus said.

Conclusion

The Truth Will Set You Free

Jesus always told the truth.

"To the Jews who had believed Him, Jesus said, 'If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:31-32).

If anyone does not have Jesus Christ in his life at the time of death, he will be going in for a shock of his life with no chance of return. Bible says, "But the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murders and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death" (Revelation 21:8).

For those who do not have Christ in their lives, you may receive Jesus into your lives and make sure you have eternal life. Jesus says,

"I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved" (John 10:9).

Do you want to be saved? If yes, confess your sins to God and receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord, and follow Him and His teachings as recorded in the Holy Bible.

How to receive Jesus Christ?

As for Christians, we should not be tempted, fooled or mislead. If you want to get married and form a family, do it here on earth. God ordained marriage here on earth when He said to Adam and Eve,

"And God blessed them. And God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it...'" (Genesis 1:28).

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2).
