How to receive Jesus Christ?

Since you are sincerely desiring to have a personal relationship (Father and child relationship) with God and spend eternity with Him in Heaven, prepare your heart to receive Jesus.

Here is how you could prepare your heart to receive Jesus Christ.

• Man is sinful and separated from God

  Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."

  Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (We have lost fellowship with God and spiritually separated from Him because of our sin.)

  Agree with God that you have sinned against Him and separated from Him.

• Jesus died on the cross in our place and rose again from the dead.

  Romans 1:4 says, "By being raised from the dead, He was proved to be the mighty Son of God with the holy nature of God Himself." He defeated sin and death by his resurrection from the dead.

  Accept the fact that Jesus died on the cross in your place to pay the penalty for your sins.



• Jesus makes peace between us and God

  In John 14:6 says, "Jesus said, 'I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through Me'".

  Agree that Jesus is the only way to God.

  When we receive Jesus as our Saviour and Lord, we establish a personal (Father and child) relationship with God. We also restore our fellowship (communication) with God and He with us. As we continue to trust and obey Him, He will gradually transform our lives into the image of Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:29,"For from the beginning God decided that those came to him should become like his Son, so that his Son would be the First, with many brothers. And having chosen us, he called us to come to him; and when we came, he declared us 'not guilty,' filled us with Christ's goodness, gave us right standing with himself, and promises us his glory.".

Jesus said in Revelation 3:20, "Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him…" Jesus needs an invitation from you to enter your life, because He is not a thief. He is Almighty God.

Jesus said in John 10:10,"The thief's purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness."

Receiving Christ involves turning to God from self (repentance) and trusting Christ to come into our lives to forgive our sins and to make us what He wants us to be. Just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for our sins is not enough. Nor is it enough to have an emotional experience. We must individually receive Jesus Christ by faith, as an act of the will.

You can receive Jesus by faith through prayer. Prayer is talking with God. Here is a suggested prayer:

If this prayer expresses the desire of your heart, pray this prayer right now and Jesus will come into your life just as He promised. You need to pray this prayer only one time in your life time. In Hebrews 13:5, He has promised, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
